Piraeus Bank SA, listed on the Athens Stock Exchange, is one of the top five Greek banks with branches throughout the world. The UK branch is situated in the City of London focusing on Treasury, Corporate Banking, Private Banking and International Mortgages.

As a leading financial institution Piraeus Bank London is very much aware of the need to protect its employees and business from any event that may cause risk to the safety of its employees or disruption to its business.

A business continuity planning strategy was required with particular regard to creating a ‘live and interactive’ process that could be updated and reviewed pragmatically whilst ensuring close alignment to regulatory body recommended practices and procedures.

Objectives


  • To evaluate existing operational practices.
  • To identify critical operations.
  • To assess operational risk and the value of risk.
  • To identify single points of failure.
  • To test existing operational controls and benchmark against others in the financial services sector.
  • Liaise with all stakeholder groups throughout change management process.
  • To identify the roles and responsibilities of the Crisis Management Team.
  • To develop the crisis management formula into practical and efficient process.
  • To establish full communication processes and roles for each relevant employee.
  • To create a Business Continuity Plan.

Outcomes


  • New Business Continuity Plan delivered, communicated and enabled.
  • All relevant employees fully engaged in the preparation and adoption of the new Business Continuity Plan.
  • New working processes and procedures suggested and adopted to enhance overall operational control.
  • Full understanding of new plan along with associated roles and responsibilities within the branch network and head office in Athens.
  • Various authorities established and approved.
  • Landlord/tenant relationship redefined and established.
  • Live and interactive Business Continuity Plan in place and fully functional.
